Product Update August ‘23

We've been busy! This month we launched new features and made several product updates. Give them a try and let us know what you think.

AI Privacy

If you’re building on top of third-party LLMs (like OpenAI), we recently released AI Privacy, a new Evervault solution powered by Relay Redaction (more detail below).

By using Evervault as a proxy that automatically redacts sensitive data like e-PHI/PII in prompts before sending to OpenAI, you can securely integrate with third-party LLMs, without sharing sensitive customer PII or compromising on AI output.

Relay Redaction (Open Beta)

The feature underlying the AI Privacy use case is Relay Redaction. Now when configuring a Relay, you can choose to redact sensitive fields (vs. only encrypt) and Evervault will automatically redact then replace them with synthetic data.

When configured between your infrastructure and a third party, Relay Redaction will automatically scan for 35+ fields of PII (like name, address, social security number) and then replace them with synthetic data before sharing.

Decrypt API

We have been considering ways to provide our customers with greater flexibility in using their encrypted data. With our new Decrypt API, Evervault customers can perform one-off decrypts of their previously encrypted data, enabling them to build entirely new workflows. The API has been implemented across all of our SDKs, making it easy to get started. Additionally, the Decrypt API is accessible as a standard REST API for platforms that we do not yet have SDK support for.

In addition to the flexibility provided by the Decrypt API, we have also launched an Encrypt API that simplifies programmatic data encryption.

Check out the docs to get started encrypting or decrypting.

Cages

Cages Zero Downtime Deployments
We’ve put a lot of time into fine-tuning the deployment process for Cages. We previously saw that during a deployment there was a short period where requests would fail. This was while the instance running the Cage was healthy, but the Cage was still in a startup phase - alive but not ready. We’ve updated our internal service discovery to use better readiness checks to remove this downtime entirely.

Cages support in Mobile SDKs
Our new iOS and Android SDKs now support attested connections to Evervault Cages. This allows you to extend the Cages trust model all the way out to your end-user.

Introducing Decrypt

Shane (CEO) and Liz (DevRel Lead) have started a new podcast! Join them as they ‘decrypt’ data security and development across the industry.

Each episode features guests from Vanta, Tines, Circle, and the like. They unpack how teams handle sensitive customer data, approach technical road bumps, and navigate the ever-evolving industry trends.
